He got enrolled and later from Pennfield School, he then joined and graduated from the Portsmouth Abbey School, both in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Charlie later joined and received a bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.  He later got enrolled and graduated with an honorary doctorate in performing arts from Merrimack in 2014.

At school, he was a notable member of the Merrimack’s student theater organization known as the Onstagers. He was also in the summer theater program of the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

After his graduation, he ditched a very lucrative bank job in Boston and moved to New York to pursue his dreams of becoming an actor. He proved his talent in a number of stage plays and then began to attract a few television roles. However, the then-struggling actor also had to work as a waiter to help support himself.

He was featured in the sitcom Madigan Men of 2000, and also the popular crime drama series Law & Order of 2001.  Day starred in the NBC crime series Third Watch in the recurring role of Michael Boscorelli as from 2001 to 2004. He was also on the main cast of the short-lived sitcom Luis of 2003.

Day and his friends pitched and sold the pilot for the comedy series (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) to the FX network in 2003. He started Filming of the hit comedy series in 2004 which marked the beginning of Charlie Day’s illustrious career as a comedian.

Charlie was featured as Charlie Kelly in long-running series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is regarded as the breakthrough role of his acting career. Day lent his voice to the character Art in the animated comedy film Monsters University of 2013. Charlie Day starred opposite Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan in the comedy film Fist Fight (2017).

On 5th of  November 2011, He served as a guest host on NBC’s Saturday Night Live (SNL) on an episode He was featured in Maroon 5. In 2014, Charlie earned an honorary doctorate degree in performing arts by his Alma mater Merrimack College.
