J. H. Wyman left for Toronto to pursue an acting career and later attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, California. After a short stint as an actor (using the stage name Joel Wyner) which included a star billing on the 1994-1995 season of Sirens, Wyman segued into writing and producing.
J. H. Wyman first major feature script was The Mexican (2001) starring Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt, directed by acclaimed director Gore Verbinski. He then created the FOX series Keen Eddie (2003). In 2008, he joined the first season of the FOX science fiction series Fringe as a writer and co-executive producer.
At the start of season two, he was promoted to executive producer and co-showrunner (titles he shares with Jeff Pinkner).

J. H. Wyman is the creator, executive producer, and showrunner of the FOX science-fiction series Almost Human (2013). In 1997, J. H. Wyman formed his production company, Frequency Films, which produced such film and TV projects as Pale Saints, Keen Eddie, Almost Human and Dead Man Down. He is also a musician and performs with the alternative rock band Angels Of Mercy.
On December 4, 2016, his film of Main Man Records released Angels of Mercy’s self-titled debut. J. H. Wyman left for Toronto to pursue an acting career and later attended the American Academy of Dramatic Art in Los Angeles, California. J. H. Wyman now has established a career both in front of and behind the camera.
J. H. Wyman had his first movie role was in Prom Night IV in which he played Mark opposite fellow co-star, Nicole de Boer, with whom he later worked with again in the series Catwalk. In addition to appearing in films, he has also had some notable roles in popular shows including, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Lonesome Dove: The Series, and Counterstrike.
Joel also appeared in the second season of Highlander: The Series as Immortal Gregor Powers. Wyman is perhaps best known for his role as Lt. Lyle Springer in the series Sirens, and he later appeared in the short-lived soap Pacific Palisades in 1997 but left the show after six episodes. He wrote and produced the 2001 film The Mexican.
