Jay Johnston Biography
Jay Johnston is an American actor and comedian best known for his work on the sketch comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David and for his roles in The Sarah Silverman Program, Arrested Development, and Bob’s Burgers.
Early Life and Career
Johnston was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 22, 1968. He began his acting career in the city’s improvisational theater scene, performing at The Annoyance Theater and Second City. He moved to Los Angeles in 1994.
Mr. Show with Bob and David
Johnston’s big break came in 1995 when he was cast as a writer and performer on the HBO sketch comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David. The show was a critical and commercial success, running for four seasons and earning numerous accolades, including 10 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Johnston was known for his quirky, offbeat characters and his sharp comedic timing.
