Justin Cornwell Biography
Justin Cornwell is an American actor best known for his role as Kyle Craig on the CBS series Training Day. He has also appeared in a number of other television shows, including Chicago P.D., Empire, and The Chi. Cornwell was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He began acting at a young age and appeared in several community theater productions. After graduating from high school, he attended the University of Louisville, where he continued to study theater.

Justin Cornwell was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania on January 6, 1982. He is of African-American and Caucasian descent. Cornwell was raised in Cleveland, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky. At age 10, he relocated with his mother and stepfather Jackie Herring (died 2009) to Louisville where he was encouraged to pursue art after first showing an interest in grade school.
Cornwell graduated from Eastern High School in Louisville, where he was a member of the school’s chorus and theater department. He was also named a premier student artist at the Muhammad Ali Center. After graduating from high school, Cornwell attended the University of Louisville, where he continued to study acting.

Cornwell began his professional acting career in Chicago, where he appeared in a number of stage productions. He made his television debut in 2012, with a small role in the NBC series Chicago P.D.. He went on to appear in a number of other television shows, including Empire and The Chi.
In 2017, Cornwell was cast as Kyle Craig on the CBS series Training Day. The series is a reboot of the 2001 film of the same name. Cornwell’s character is a young police officer who is partnered with a corrupt detective. The series was canceled after one season.
