Kacy Catanzaro (full name: Kacy Esther Catanzaro) nicknamed Mighty Kacy, is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE, a gymnast and athletics-based TV personality. She competes in NXT, WWE’s developmental territory. She was the first woman to qualify for the finals of the TV sports show American Ninja Warrior and the first, and so far only, woman to complete a City Finals course.

Catanzaro went to high school in Belleville then joined Towson University in Maryland from 2009 until 2012. She was on an athletic scholarship and she studied early childhood education. She also competed in gymnastics for Towson in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. She is a former award-winning Division 1 NCAA gymnast and a professional obstacle course athlete in San Antonio, Texas.

Catanzaro is an athlete by passion, as she began training for gymnastics from a very young age. It is what earned her scholarships for her school and college education. While at the Towson University in Maryland, she took part in collegiate competitions like the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in 2012. That same year, she earned the title of ‘Southeast Regional Gymnast of the Year’ and ‘Eastern College Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Year’.

Since 2013, she has been associated with obstacle course gymnasium ‘Alpha Warrior’, a brand of which she is now a managing partner. She took two years to prepare herself for ‘American Ninja Warrior,’ the television sports challenge. She failed to qualify in 2013 and though she entered as a wild card entry, Kacy got eliminated during the course.

She did not give up hence in 2014, she became the first woman to successfully finish the qualifying round of American Ninja Warrior (in Season 6). She was also the first woman to complete climbing up the warped wall in the competition at 5:26.18. She went on to compete in the Dallas finals that season. Catanzaro’s performance earned her much appreciation and this led to her becoming a social media celebrity.

In 2015, during the Houston Qualifying round of American Ninja Warrior (Season 7), she failed to get through as she fell on the cargo crossing. In 2016, she got an invitation to compete at the 32nd competition of ‘Sasuke’, the Japanese version of American Ninja Warrior. In the competition, she had a strong performance which allowed her to set the record of the maximum number of rounds a female athlete has taken part in the competition.

The same year she failed to qualify for the Oklahoma City Qualifying round of the American Ninja Warrior (Season 8). This was as a result of falling on the Log Runner , on June 20. Despite being given the advantage of a wild card entry, she failed to successfully complete obstacles. She also competed in the Broken Skull Ranch in 2016, a competition that she failed to win.

Towards the end of 2016, she co-presented the series of shows titled, ‘Team Ninja Warrior College Madness’ in which she was a broadcaster. She again competed in American Ninja Warrior season 9 in 2017 and in the San Antonio city qualifier and finals. In ANW, she failed on the fourth obstacle and qualified for city finals under the show’s new rules.

In the San Antonio city run, she performed quite well since 2014 as she made it past the Sky Hooks and the fifth obstacle to get the now-higher Warped Wall, which she failed to surmount. Kacy however qualified for the national finals though she failed on Stage 1 at the Double Dipper.

She announced her retirement from the American Ninja Warrior show and said that season 9 would be her last.

After her retirement from American Ninja Warrior competitions, Catanzaro was invited by WWE on January 4, 2017 at their WWE Performance Center for a tryout. Since her childhood days, Kacy was fascinated by the sport and always wanted to be in the ring.

Her signing into WWE with a contract was announced on August 27 during the Mae Young Classic. She reported to the WWE Performance Center and an official announcement on the same was made on January 18, 2018. Her first in-ring appearance was at a NXT live event on April 19, in Sanford, Florida where she lost to Reina González.

She has continued to appear in house shows and on NXT television. She made her televised debut on September 12, 2018 during the second episode of the Mae Young Classic and won against Reina Gonzalez in the first round match. She however lost in the second round to Rhea Ripley on episode 5.
