Patricia DiMango (Patricia Mafalda DiMango) is an American media personality and retired judge born in 1953 in  Brooklyn, New York City, U.S.  She is one of the judges of panel court show Hot Bench on CBS. She is the first Italian-American woman to be elected as justice of the State Supreme Court.

DiMango received the Alumna of the Year Award from Brooklyn College and was also the recipient of the prestigious Rapallo Award. She was also the recipient of the Distinguished Judiciary Award from the Catholic Lawyers Guild and was named “Woman of the Year” by the New York State Supreme Court Officers Association in 2013.

Judge DiMango was named “Woman of the Year” by The New York State Court Officers Association. She also served as Master of Ceremonies for the NY State Broadcasters Association Awards. Justice DiMango was the Grand Marshal of the Brooklyn Columbus Day Parade in 2015. She was also recognized as being the “Woman Of The Year” for the Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator’s “Kings of Kings” event.

She has been honored celebrity speaker at The Greater New York Dental Association National Convention. Justice DiMango was named “Woman of The Year” by the Italian Charities of America in 2016. DiMango has also appeared on numerous television programs including “Wendy Williams,” “Rachael Ray” and “Steve Harvey” and can be heard on many talk radio shows. She has been featured giving legal insight on stories on “Entertainment Tonight,” Fox News, “Inside Edition” and “The Insider,” among others.

After her graduation from law school, DiMango served 5 1/2 years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. In her time there, Justice DiMango was given the extra responsibility of being cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. She then worked s a law clerk in both Kings and Queens Counties to Supreme Court Justices Steven Fisher, Reinaldo Rivera and Luigi Marano. During this time, Justice DiMango volunteered as a Small Claims Court Arbitrator.

She was the chairperson on the Board of Directors of the Law and Paralegal Studies Department at New York City Technical College. Patricia also served as the chairperson on the Assigned Counsel Advisory Committee for the 2nd, 11th and 13th Judicial Districts. Justice DiMango serves on the Board of Directors for The Cathedral Club of Brooklyn.

In 1995  Patricia was appointed by Mayor Rudolph Giuliani as a Judge of the Criminal Court of the City of New York. Prior to her appointment, she was a school teacher at NYC Public School. In 1998 she served as the Acting justice of the State Supreme Court, 2nd Judicial District. She was later elected as a justice of the Supreme Court of Kings Country after two years retiring in March 2014.

During an interview with nydailynews.com in January 2014, she said; “My 16 years as a New York State Supreme Court Justice has been the most rewarding time of my professional life… I cherish the relationships and friendships that I have developed throughout the years. I look forward to the next chapter of my life with this exciting new adventure at Hot Bench and the incredible opportunity that awaits me.”

Patricia is mentioned in a New Yorker article regarding Kalief Browder, a 16-year-old who spent over three years in Rikers Island awaiting trial. According to the article, she was the presiding judge who released Browder on his 31st court appearance. DiMango has also been involved with numerous other high-profile cases. The cases include murders and other crimes committed against children, and hate crimes.
