Peter Hollens is an American singer/songwriter, Vocalist, YouTuber, and Entrepreneur. Since 1999, when the a capella group of the Univesity of Oregon was founded by Leo da Silva, he has been mostly involved with a cappella music. A cappella is a music style that doesn’t go with instrumental accompaniment. His music is regularly posted on his YouTube channel called Peter Hollens. Since 2011, a total count of all his views for all his content in well over a billion.

Music
Since he graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance he has become involved with collegiate a cappella. He has recorded, judged and even produced a cappella music competitions and productions throughout the U.S. He played in the 2010 NBC Sing Off with music director Deke Sharon. His participation helped him garner notice from judges Shawn Stockman, Nicole Scherzinger and Ben Folds for solo performances leading his group, On The Rocks. His group was eliminated 6th out of the total 10 competing.
He owns a home studio at his house in Eugene, Oregon where he records and produces his songs. Along with his own, he also has recorded audio for Sony and Epic Records. He has also recorded albums with such groups as On the Rocks, Divisi, Cornell’s Chordials, the Duke’s Men of Yale and the Whiffenpoofs. One of his most notable songs is the Sing-Off season 2 winner song, The Backbeats performed by Committed, and the Grammy Award winner The Swingle Singers.
He then started his YouTube channel in 2011. At the time, he mostly posted music videos and multi-tracked a cappella covers. Here, he has been seen to occasionally partner with other artists like Lindsey Stirling and Taylor Davis. As of 2019, his channel has attained over 2 million subscribers. He even joined the crowdfunding platform called Patreon in 2013. He released his first album in 2012. Two years later, he signed a deal with Sony Masterworks and released a self-titled album in the same year.
In 2015, he performed guest vocals in the song “Our Special Love” Brian Wilson’s album titled No Pier Pressure. The years after, he teamed up with the a cappella group Home Free as well as the winners of Sing-Off season4 to produce an all-vocal arrangement of the hymn Amazing Grace.
Broadway
A few years later, he and his wife debuted on Broadway with the show “Home For the Holidays, Live on Broadway” presented on the 17th to 30th of December 2017 at the August Wilson Theatre. On the 12th of December the same year, he guest with The Piano Guys live stream call’ Light The World Christmas Concert with The Piano Guys and Friends’ as he was still performing in the Broadway show.

Peter Hollens’ Religious beliefs
He has described himself as one who believes in God but does not follow a specific religion. Peter has taken part in a number of spiritual performances. Along with this, he has worked with a number of religious performers. On December of 2014, he performed alongside a number of Mormon-identified performers. The performance was made in the world’s largest Christian nativity scene which occurred in Provo, Utah. He has once said that he wanted to be part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir as a child.
