Robbie Merrill is an American bass guitar player, best known as a founding member of Godsmack and Another Animal with Shannon Larkin, Tony Rombola, Lee Richards and Whitfield Crane. He was featured in the Behind The Player interactive music video.

Merrill was one of the founding members of Godsmack. He met Sully Erna through his sister and finally becoming a roommate and friend. He later in February 1995 decided to form a band as a vocalist after having played the drums for more than 23 years. The new band, called The Scam, was formed with Erna as a vocalist, Robbie Merrill as a bassist, Lee Richards as guitarist and Tommy Stewart as a drummer. The Scam would soon be renamed Godsmack, after recording the first demo.

Godsmack is an American rock band from Lawrence, Massachusetts, formed in 1995. Members of the band include; founder, frontman and songwriter Sully Erna, guitarist Tony Rombola, bassist Robbie Merrill, and drummer Shannon Larkin. The band since its formation has released seven studio albums, one EP (The Other Side), four DVDs, one compilation album (Good Times, Bad Times… Ten Years of Godsmack), and one live album (Live & Inspired).
Godsmack has had three consecutive number-one albums (Faceless, IV, and The Oracle) on the Billboard 200. It also has 25 top ten rock radio hits; 18 songs in the top five. When Legends Rise (the band’s 7th album) was released on the 27th of April last year, 2018.
Since its commencement, Godsmack has toured on Ozzfest on more than one occasion and has toured with many other large tours and festivals, including supporting its albums with its own arena tours. Mayor Marty Walsh ones declared August 6 as “Godsmack Day” in the city of Boston, because of the band’s sixth studio album, 1000hp. This was as an honor to the band’s success.
