Tyrese Gibson is an American singer, songwriter, rapper, actor, model, VJ, screenwriter, film producer, author and television producer. He is known for playing Joseph Jody Summers in Baby Boy. He also played Angel Mercer in Four Brothers, Roman Pearce in the Fast and the Furious series and Robert Epps in the Transformers film series. 

He then transitioned into films after releasing several albums. Tyrese led roles in several major Hollywood releases Since then. His mother is  Priscilla Murray Gibson who raised him alongside his three older siblings as a single parent after his father Tyrone Gibson left.

Tyrese married Norma Mitchell from 2007 to 2009 where they had a daughter who was born in 2007. They divorced he later married Samantha Lee on February 14th, 2017. The couple then proceeded to have a baby daughter who was born on October 1st, 2018.

His career kicked off when he was given a suggestion by his high school music teacher to audition for a Coca Cola commercial in 1994. The appearance of him singing in the commercial the Phrase Always Coca Cola led to bigger fame. It made him appear for Guess and Tommy Hilfiger. Gibson was then signed as an artist to early RCA Records in 1998.

He then released his first debut single Nobody Else. It swiftly rose on the Billboard Hot 100 chart ranking at number 36. He again released his self-titled album Tyrese in September 1998 at the age of 19. It ranked high on the Billboard charts at Number 17. Then towards the end of 1998 Gibson became the new host of the weekday music video show on MTV Jams.

He then became the VJ for the channel. He then released the second single from the album Lately which ranked up to number 56. Gibson then released his second Studio album in May 2001 after getting so much recognition titled 2000 Watts. I LIKE THEM GIRLS was the first single of the album which reached Number 15 on the Billboard chart.

The album sold over 500,000 copies after being certified as Gold. The third single was featured in the film Baby Boy. The third single off the album, “Just a Baby Boy,” with Snoop Dogg and Mr. Tan, was featured on the soundtrack to the film Baby Boy, Gibson signed with J records after RCA Records disbanded him. While he was there he released his third album I wanna go there on December 2002.

His first single which hit the world with a bang up to now is How You Gonna Act Like That
to date “How You Gonna Act Like That” debuted on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at # Number 26.  He rose to prominence as an actor when he starred in John Singleton’s Baby Boy in 2001. He now has a recurring role in two of the highest-grossing film series which are The Fast and the Furious and Transformers.

Gibson co-created his first 3-issue comic book in 2009 titled Tyrese Gibson’s MAYHEM! after his visit to Comic-Con. He then released his first book titled How to Get Out Of Your Own Way which went on to be New York Times bestseller. Gibson then co-authored his second book with his close friend Rev. Run titled  Manology Secrets Of Your Minds Revealed which also followed to be the best seller book for the New York Times too.
