Vanilla Ice Biography
Vanilla Ice real name, Robert Matthew Van Winkle is an American rapper, actor, and television host born October 31, 1967 in South Dallas, and raised in Texas and South Florida. Ice released his debut album, Hooked, on Ichiban Records in 1989, before signing a contract with SBK Records, an EMI Group record label that released a reformatted version of the album in 1990 under the title To the Extreme, containing the best-known hits of Ice: “Ice Ice Baby” and a cover of “Play That Funky Music.” “Ice Ice Baby” was the first Billboard charts hip hop single.
Although he was successful, Ice later regretted his business arrangements with SBK, which had paid him to take on a more commercial appearance to attract a mass audience, and without his knowledge published manufactured biographical information. Ice changed its musical style and lifestyle after surviving a suicide attempt. While his later mainstream albums were not able to chart or receive a lot of radio airplay, Ice had an underground following. Ice started hosting The Ice Project on DIY Network in 2009. His latest album was released in August 2011, WTF–Wisdom, Tenacity & Focus. Ice signed on to Psychopathic Records after that.

Vanilla Ice Career
He concentrated all his energy on motocross in 1985, winning three championships. Ice hadn’t been interested in racing professionally for a while after breaking his ankle during a race, using his spare time to perfect his dance movements and creating his own while healing his ankle. During this time, Ice used his beatboxing and breakdancing abilities as a street performer at local malls with his friends. One night he visited City Lights, a nightclub in South Dallas, where his friend Squirrel dared to go on stage during an open-mic. He won the crowd and was asked to perform regularly by City Lights manager John Bush, which he accepted.
In January 1987, during a scuffle outside City Lights, Ice was stabbed five times. Ice has signed a contract with the owner of City Lights, Tommy Quon and his management company, Ultrax, after spending 10 days at the hospital. Two years later, Ice would be opening on the Stop the Violence Tour for EPMD, Ice-T, Stetsasonic and Sir Mix-A-Lot. In Ice’s raping and dancing skills, Quon saw commercial potential. Buying studio time with Quon’s City Lights earnings, they recorded songs that Ice and his acquaintances with different producers, including Khayree, had perfected on stage. In 1989, an independent record company named Ichiban Records distributed the two-year production.
Public Enemy tried to persuade their producer, Hank Shocklee, to sign Ice to Def Jam on the basis of Ice’s good looks and dance movements, but Ice later signed a contract with SBK Records in 1990. With the title To the Extreme, SBK remixed and re-recorded Hooked. The reissue contained new artwork and music.[31] SBK paid him for adopting a more commercial, conventional appearance, according to Ice. This led Ice later to regret its SBK business agreements.
Vanilla Ice Ice Ice Baby
“Ice Ice Baby” is a hip hop song written by Ice, K. Kennedy and Earthquake, an American rapper. It was based on Queen and David Bowie’s bassline of “Under Pressure,” who did not receive songwriting credit or royalties until it became a hit. Originally released on the debut album Hooked by Ice in 1989 and later on his national debut To the Extreme in 1990, it is his best-known song. On Platinum Underground and Ice Is Back it has appeared in remixed form! The album Extremely Live features a live version, while the album Hard to Swallow features a nu metal version under the title “Too Cold.”
